My Easter Wish as an Atheist

My Easter wish as a hard code atheist is that all of the Christians in the world actually acted like the character of Jesus Christ as written in the book. I don't believe he was actually a real person but I do think his character is what people should truly aspire to. People in this country (as well as other places but in particular here) rampantly hate in the name of Christianity and it's destructive and cruel. I would put all of my money on it that the majority of the most racist people in this country claim Christianity. People who want to cut welfare and social programs and fund billionaires and banks instead supposedly read the book about a man who forgave everyone, healed the sick and gave to the poor and the needy. I can't get my head around how people can listen to the words about this man and yet scowl at all of the homeless including those who are clearly mentally or physically disabled. I can't get my head around how people fight so hard for the life of a fetus and then do nothing to support actual humans who are born into poverty which is exactly what so many of those fetuses are destined for when they are forced to be born due to lack of access to safe medical clinics. Jesus would never want that outcome and that's just a fact. I can't believe that people can read about this man who said to love everyone and then go and hate gay people with such aggression. Jesus never once mentioned gay people and you can guarantee that there were gay people in that time. They have been our brothers for the entire duration of our species. I'm 100% sure Jesus if he were real would have loved gay people as much as everyone else and would be happy for them to have love in their lives. Anyhow, happy Easter. If you are Christian I hope you use this day to try to live like Jesus Christ and try to make a separation between the man as he is presented in the bible and the rampant bastardization of that person which has taken the form of an overwhelming number of the institutions which call themselves "Christian" and/or "Catholic" churches. It's painful to watch something that really is such a beautiful story to have turned into what we have now.
